our purpose

Establish a community water supply system for the families of La Uvilla through the construction of an Artesian Well with a rope pump. Providing the inhabitants of La Uvilla a community water supply system, so that the families have access to a clean and dignified source of water, with no restrictions or competition with farm animals on its use.

our hope

Through this project our desire is to show God’s character by relieving poverty through providing a basic need, clean water. We desire to build unity and sustainability through this water project by placing responsibility on the “Water Committee” and community to work together in order to maintain the Artesian Well and to help those in need of clean water.

why clean water?

Water is an indispensable substance to survival. In addition to that, clean water allows people to do several activities such as cooking, keeping good personal hygiene, and cleaning their household. All such activities help promote health and well-being, which are intrinsically related  to people being able to work and fostering other life-sustaining activities.

education

There will be classes provided, such as: information on the Artesian Well, how to properly use clean water within one’s home, the importance of contributing a $1.00 a month for maintenance upkeep, as well as healthy living...etc. Classes will be mainly taught by Denis and Armando. We will also have local health professionals and leadership within the community teaching some classes.

The Need/Urgency

“The people in La Uvilla have grown accustomed to using water from contaminated springs for everyday needs, such as washing clothes, dishes, bathing, giving it to their animals to drink and even drinking it themselves.  Education about the matter is under way through health and hygiene committees created in the communities. But education is useless if no other safe water source is available for their needs.
The use of contaminated sources causes frequent health problems, which sometimes lead to serious illness and even death.”-Pastor Ricardo

maintenance

Collective effort from La Uvilla “Water Committee” (runs about 7 members) as well as volunteers from the general community. We will work with La Uvilla heavily the first two years. Denis our Clean Water Project Manager and Armando our Agriculture Director will be taking frequent trips to work with leadership and make sure they are set up for long term success. After two years we will continue our relationship with less involvement but will always be available when needed

Spiritual Objectives

The spiritual objectives for this project are already on their way. The idea of wanting to bless the community with a clean source of water is already part of teaching and showing the ways of the Gospel in the words of Jesus; it comes from the simple fact of walking next to them in different aspects of life, including physical needs, such as this, which

is used in teaching the general idea of blessing others, as you have been blessed. Below are three discipleship focuses for the La Uvilla community.”-Pastor Ricardo

  1. Teaching them to work together as a team, for the well-being of their neighbors, their own families and themselves.

  2. Every training and coordination meeting is used to share principles and values taken from the Gospel.

  3. Promote the involvement of using the benefit received to get involved, blessing others through sharing, serving and training.

management

Takin Back will provide financial support for the first year to give the  La Uvilla community time to build a proper foundation to sustain the Artesian Well independently. Our Takin Back Team in El Salvador will work closely with La Uvilla community to ensure sustainable success.
